Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a no-profit international students' organization. Its mission is to promote students' mobility at the University, under the principle that "students should help other students"
We are more than 12.000 members from 258 local sections in 34 different countries, we work as volunteers at Universities' institutions. We offer our services to more than 150.000 students.

ESN Italia
ESN Italia is the Italian network of university association belonging to ESN International.
When ESN Italia was born
It was officially born on 22 October 1994 by initiative of the oldest Italian sections (Siena, Parma, Pavia, Milano, Trento, Bologna, Genova); they wanted to create a coordination between activities that was similar to the wider one at international level.
Aims
ESN Italia, being a Italian network of volunteers' associations not aligned with any political party or religion, offering services to foreign students at Italian universities and to institutions that are interested in exchange programmes, is itself a no-profit organization not aligned with any political party or religion. ESN Italia follows all the aims that are stated in the Statute and the Guidelines of the International network it belongs to. The aim is to promote the mobility of European students by:
- welcoming and helping foreign students that are at any Italian university of a limited period of study (helping looking for an accommodation, tutoring, planning events to help his/her integration in the local society)
- providing updated information about European inter-university programmes
- evaluating systematically such programmes through the experience of the students who joined them
How ESN Italia works
Through the activity of the Italian sections, that are managed at a local level, following the model of the international organization. Each section has a board, made of a President, a Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and a Local Representative, working together with the board of members. The ESN members periodically meet up at local, national and international level.
Who can belong to a ESN section?
All the (ex-)students who came back from a period abroad longer than 4 months, to work or to study. They are the best people to help foreign incoming students thanks to their experience. Moreover, they are able to evaluate the exchange programme they joined.
Where is ESN Italia?
At the moment, ESN Italia is made of 34 active sections. Active sections keep an office open in the place that is given by the university. There is no more than one ESN section in each university. The opening time of the offices depends on the local needs.
