Incoming Erasmus

The Erasmus association of Roma Tre is the office of the university that will help you as soon as you arrive to Rome (looking for an accommodation, consulting about teaching and language, tutoring) and during your permanence in Italy (trips, guided tours, welcome weeks, cineforum, sport, parties, discounts). Our aim is to help you in the integration in the Italian society and to let you enjoy an unforgetable experience.

What to do when you arrive

The "Ufficio Relazioni Internazionali" (International relationship office) takes care of the bureaucratic part of your permanence at Roma Tre. For more info ask them (http://europa.uniroma3.it // incoming.students@uniroma3.it)

Coming to our association is next step: we are in via Ostiense 159. At ours you can:

  • get the ESN card that will allow you to join all our events (and those of the whole European network) during the year
  • get help about teaching and learning the language
  • join the "Tandem project"
  • at the beginning of each semester, the Association plans the welcome week with several events, games, parties, etc.

WARNING: ESN ROMA 3 (Erasmus 3) and ESN ROMA ASE ARE THE ONLY OFFICIAL ERASMUS ASSOCIATIONS OF ROME. DO NOT TRUST THE OTHERS!!!

What to do when you arrive in Rome

From Fiumicino airport, you can get the local train leaving each 20 minutes and stopping at several stations inside the city such as Ostiense or Termini. The ticket is 5,20€.

At Fiumicino airport, there is also a train going directly to Termini, in the city center. The ticket is about 9€. Consider that the taxi from the airport to via Ostiense is about 35,00 €.

Ciampino airport is closer to Rome but with worse connections. About each half an hour, there is a bus connecting the airport to Termini station, it takes about 40 minutes (if there isn't too much traffic!). It costs about 5€.

Another possibility is to get the but to metro Anagnina (the final stop of the underground) and then to go around by underground. This way it's faster, but the but to Anagnina doesn't leave very often.

To reach our office, from Termini station (city centre), get line B of the metro towards "Laurentina", get off at "Basilica San Paolo" or "Garbatella", go out on via Ostiense and go to the "Rettorato" (the main building of the university), in via Ostiense 159 (it's about 200 m away).
The ticket costs 1€ and you can buy at a newsagent of at the automatic machines inside the station.

University and Erasmus office

Go to your faculty and ask for the Erasmus office or the responsible for the Erasmus. Here they will ask you for your Certificate (of your university) stating that you are an Erasmus student. In this paper, there is the date of arrival and the day you are leaving (this is important of the ADISU)
You will get your Erasmus Certificate and your Erasmus card (you need a picture). Your coordinator will inform you about Italian courses, that are for free. There will be tests to figure out your level and to create classes of the same level.

Cost of life

The average monthly expense of an Erasmus student in Rome is about 900/1000 €. Your main expense will be the accommodation, that is more expensive than most ot the other European capitals. The canteen and the public transport (but not the taxis) are cheap. In general, life in Rome will not be more expensive than other places. Pubs and clubs can be really expensive, so we suggest you to join the activities of the Erasmus associations of Rome (ESN Roma Tre and ESN Roma ASE) that are much cheaper Wink

If you are lucky, you can find a job like baby-sitting, teaching a foreign language, translations, etc. but it's not easy.

Just to give you an idea, here is the price of several important goods

  • an Italian newspaper € 1,00
  • stamp € 0.60
  • one cappuccino € 0,80
  • one litre of milk € 1,50
  • one kg. of bread € 2,00
  • one ticket at the cinema € 7,50 (find the day of discounts for students!).
