What is the "tandem"?

The "tandem" project is a mutual help between to people to improve the knowledge of a foreign language and of other cultures.

For example: if you are an Italian native speaker and you want to improve your knowledge of the English language, we will find a English native speaker who wants to improve his/her Italian: this way you can both improve your knowledge of a foreign language!

But the tandem is much more than this: your "partner" will soon become your friend and your guide to know the habits of a culture different from yours.

Erasmus students can easily meet people at university so they don't lack Italian friends; anyway, it can be hard to fine friendly people who are ready to meet after the university, too, so Erasmus people tend to get friends just between themselves. On the other hand, there are many Italian people who would like to meet people from other countries to improve their knowledge of the English language, or any other language, too. What's the best way to meet people of your age from other countries?

Here comes the "tandem" project. Meeting an Erasmus student who is interested in the exchange is very easy. There are two possible ways:

1. Join the "Tandem parties", where there are foreign students and Italians who are interested in the exchange.
2. Send an email to tandem@esnroma3.com stating your Name, Surname, your language and the laguage(s) you want to improve; we will contact the right person for you. Then we will give you the email and mobile phone number of the person who agreed to be your tandem.

After the first meeting, the two "tandem" people have to manage it by themselves. They are free to meet any time they want, we won't interfere any more. We just might ask for some feedback, but nothing more.
